The book begins with an examination of what it means to be creative, and historical perceptions of creativity and artistry, discussing the historical concept that art was con- sidered a masculine realm (2023, 6–13) noting specifically how women’s artistic practice has often been relegated to sidelines, viewed as ‘crafts’ or merely the efforts of domestic labor (2023, 7) and not ‘true’ or ‘high art. O’Driscoll also makes note of how this attitude is still, lamentably, present, citing the relative lack of scholarly attention given to women’s creativity (2023, 10–11). The subsequent three chapters are structured around interviews with ten creative Irish women whose work spans a variety of different artistic practices http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png The Journal of Arts Management Law and Society Taylor & Francis
