Summary A thorough study of the genitalia revealed the existence of two dualspecies: A. alciope Hewitson and A. aurivillii Staudinger, valid species. However, no distinct difference was found, neither in the early stages nor at the level of ecological adaptation when the species were bred in their natural environment. The notion of subspecies and dualsubspecies is discussed.
