Abstract A technique was presented for use in laboratory rearing and field collection of cereal aphids and their parasites. By using plaster of Paris and vermiculite in place of soil, contamination by diseases and hyperparasites was greatly reduced. Furthermore, the unit was readily transportable and therefore suitable for field collections. A list of parasites already reared from Schizaphis graminum is given.
