Summary Since some years outbreaks of P. pollini are recorded in several places of Crete: it's an economic problem to-day. Biology and ecology of this pest have been studied during two years by means of infested samples of small branches and leaves. The development of buds is stopped and twigs, branches and trees dry up. This pest has two generations a year. Some biological caracteristics of this Coccid have been specified: sex-ratio, fecundity, natural mortality, hibernation. Its distribution at the level of the tree has been observed and some pesticides have been tested against it.
