Under the able editorship of Brant Burleson, Communication Yearbook established itself as an essential source for in-depth analyses of communication scholar ship representing the broad array of research areas evident within the field. The chapters contained in this volume are of high quality and should add to the reputation of the Communication Yearbook. To help the reader understand this volume, I will describe the process by which the chapters were selected and created, the content of each chapter, and the individuals who played essential roles in putting the volume together. CHAPTER CREATION of this volume, a call for Approximately 18 months prior to the publication submissions was circulated. Drafts of chapters and proposals for chapters were solicited that would review important, specific areas of scholarship. An attempt was made to solicit proposals from across research specializations. To that end, copies of the call were sent to the leaders of all divisions and interest groups of the International Communication Association, asking that they identify potential contributors and circulate the call to the membership.
