This issue of Landscapes emerges from a new editorial partnership, as I try to take over the seat of joint editor that david austin has left vacant. In practice this issue still owes much to david’s partnership with paul stamper, who very kindly allowed me to write this editorial by way of welcome. david in the 11.2 editorial cast an eye backwards to his 6 years and 12 issues as co-editor, but I would say – as the person trying to succeed him, starting to see how much energy and how many ideas he put into it – that he praised himself far too thinly and I would very happily be much more fulsome on his behalf if I did not know that it would embarrass him. I am extremely glad that paul (also with 12 issues and six years behind him) has chosen to stay on; I expect to learn as much from him as I shall from the contributors to Landscapes. If incoming editors are supposed to set out an agenda, I (and more importantly, you, the reader) can on this occasion be spared because david really said all that needs to be said in his valedictory
