Editorial: Advances in Feminist Economic Inquiry Feminist Economics 15(4), October 2009, 1 EDITORIAL:ADVANCES IN FEMINIST ECONOMIC INQUIRY This issue inaugurates a new series spotlighting advances in feminist economic inquiry. With the burgeoning of feminist economic research during the past two decades, literatures on a variety of different topics have grown to an extent previously scarcely imaginable. This extraordinary growth in research challenges those interested in staying abreast of the latest advances in feminist economic analysis. The series will explore new knowledge in a wide range of topics, covering historical developments, theoretical and empirical insights, and the evolving debates on implications of new research for public policy and social transformation. The articles will be of interest to policy-makers, advocates, students, and researchers in a wide range of academic disciplines. By providing in-depth reviews of existing literatures, the articles will enrich future discussions in this journal and help focus scholarly attention on unresolved and other urgent issues. The first article in the series, by Therese Jefferson, is entitled ‘‘Women and Retirement Pensions: A Research Review.’’ The article reviews research on gender and pensions policy with a particular focus on how different institutional and policy frameworks handle women’s patterns of care provision.
