It is concerned with fostering interdisciplinary and cross-cultural investigation of the Mediterranean region, creating a forum of ideas, encouraging debate on the influence of Islamic culture in the Mediterranean, and promoting innovatory research. Research papers use a range of theoretical and methodological approaches covering studies in the humanities and social sciences. The journal is a publication of the Society for the Medieval Mediterranean, which aims to promote, through (established in 1988) conferences and meetings, the study of the communities, connections and intercultural relationships in the Published for the Society for the Medieval Mediterranean eastern, central and western Mediterranean during the Middle Ages. Submission of papers should be 5,000 to 9,000 words excluding footnotes; they should have clear aims with a FOUNDING EDITOR principal thesis relevant to the journal’s readership, addressing research questions or problems and specifying a Dionisius A. Agius, University of Exeter, UK research context with a critical analysis and discussion.
