Any attempt to evaluate ‘‘feminism’’ (singular) as a whole would seem like an impossible and bold task. In many ways, this is what Hester Eisenstein does in her book, although she clearly distinguishes between different ‘‘feminisms.’’ Her project is to provide an overall evaluation of the ways in which ‘‘feminism’’ has contributed to social change globally. Despite this initial difficulty, this is an interesting book whose main arguments need to be discussed among feminists.
