The book has a strong prac- tical focus and details the significance of festivals to the place they are held and history. The book is organized into three sections: (1) Understanding events; (2) Managing festivals: Policy, impact and people; and (3) Using festivals: Culture and identity. There are a few theor- etical chapters and a range of conceptual points addressed across the chapters and there was a strong distribution of cases from around the world – covering a few cases in all major world regions. The following paragraphs of this review will discuss some of the major themes and cases of the three sections.
