This timely book is an interesting and useful collection of papers on the impacts of the 2008 economic crisis with a special focus on gender dimensions. Given that, more than six years after the crisis emerged in the United States, many of its consequences are still with us, the papers continue to be very relevant, despite the fact that some of the processes launched, and the problems resulting from the crisis, have evolved in different directions in the Global South and the Global North. The collection offers a critical perspective of the crisis from feminist economics, and it can be useful for teaching and policymaking purposes. The most common theme in the collection is the analysis of country- specific employment effects and their implication for women and gender (in)equality. The chapters strongly suggest that it is difficult to generalize across countries, although some patterns can be discerned from the various experiences.
