Health and Social Well-being: Some Pressing Challenges

Health and Social Well-being: Some Pressing Challenges Editorial Health and Social Well-being: Some Pressing Challenges We have seen that a country's social and economic development is inextricably tied up with the health and well-being of its citizens. More and more resources are being deployed to promote and enhance the health of the population in the Asia Pacific region, and policy makers are now faced with increasing health care expenditure. Many countries in the region are beginning to realise the economic burden of a huge health care budget and hence the need to dampen the high demand for health care. In fact, such an increasing need for health care is insatiable and the resources available are, more often than not, limited. Policy makers cannot avoid paying attention to the allocation of resources for health care promotion. However, there are a number of issues which policy makers in the region are likely to be confronted with and these have to addressed realistica lly. Many countries in the Asian region are seriously affected by t he economic crisis and such an unprecedented setback could have a grave on the health care of millions of people. Health care programmes impact a re likely to be curtailed as they are seen http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Asia Pacific Journal of Social Work and Development Taylor & Francis
