Summary Effects of host-plant (Phaseolus bean) and mating are studied on 12 day-old Acanthoscelides obteclus females. In these females, the mean number of mature oocytes retained in lateral oviducts is about 35. Mating does not produce any stimulation of oogenesis, whereas host-plant produces a short-time stimulation in virgin females.
