Summary Adult Drosophila, reared at 25 °C, were placed, just after emergence, in constant temperature conditions ranging from 12 to 32 °C. Three characteristics were measured: daily egg production (fecundity), hatching percent of the eggs (fertility) and egg length. In all cases, variations were observed according to the temperature and also to the age of the flies. For a better analysis it was possible to distinguish several different features on each curve and so to eliminate the complexity of the age variations. The great diversity of the curves demonstrates that the criteria used possess different physiological meanings and also that the temperature effects are quite different according to the nature of the function which is affected.
