Summary Twenty-seven species, twenty-one of which are described as new, are presently included in the genus Pteropera Karsch, 1891 which is characteristic of the afrotropical forest. Three of them are known only by one sex. The great number of specimens examined allows us to give an acurate diagnosis of this genus and to establish three identification keys based: 1 — on the morphology, 2 — on the ♂ genitalia, 3 — on the ♀ genitalia.
