Abstract
Summary This is the first part of a study on the Coleoptera Colydiidae of the neotropical fauna. A key of the genera of the tribe Colydiini is given; then, a study of the genus Aulonium. Description of seven new species: A. minutum and A. guyanense from French Guyana, A. vicinum from Bolivia, A. chilense from Chile, A. thoracicum, A. longicolle and A. grandis. from Brazil. Designation of the lectotype for A. insigne Reitter and A. tubulum Sharp.
