Summary The dentissima species-group is redefined. Eleven new species are described and a key is given. The 16 species of the species-group are classified in five species « complexes » on the basis of the following characters: sex comb, parameres and phallus. A phylogeny is tentatively proposed (table 1) on the basis of the length of the anterior sex comb (short in the more evolved forms) the fused or not posterior parameres (fused in the more evolved forms) and the developed or not 2d oral bristle (developed in the more primitive forms). The mambilla complex is the more primitive, the lamottei complex is the more evolved. The distribution of the species-group dentissima fits perfectly well the victorian areotype. Several successive and sometimes localized radiations have taken place. The present fauna seems to have been formed during the Pleistocene, though the origin of the species group is much more ancient.
