Abstract South American Aphis species living on the genus Berberis (Hemiptera: Aphididae). - Two species of the genus Aphis living on Berberis spp. in Argentina and Chili (South America): A. patagonica Blanchard, 1944 (on B. buxifolia) and A. berberidorum, sp. n.(on B. empetrifolia and B. darwini), have been recorded. The oviparous females of A. patagonica are described; its apterous viviparous females are studied, two groups can be differenciated: a northern one, from VIII Region in Chili, and a southern one, from the X, XI and XII Regions of Chili and the Province of Santa Cruz of Argentina. The apterous and winged viviparous females and the males of A. berberidorum, sp. n. are described; the differences between this species and other species of the A. craccivora group known in South America are presented.
