Summary This work is a taxinomical revision of the species of the african Siagona Latreille. The members of this genus have been grouped in three phyletic series: brunnipes group, senegalensis group, cyclobasis group. Morphological characters useful in distinguishing taxa are discussed. A key is provided to species groups and revised species. The species belonging to brunnipes group are described and synonymies are listed. The distribution of each revised species is presented in the text. Structures used in identification are illustrated. Thirteen species and one subspecies are recognized in the brunnipes group, one of these, S. carinata (type locality: Merca, Somalie) is new.
