Summary A subterranean scale insect, Margarodesia desmieri, n. gen. and n. sp., injurious to Palm-oil from Ivory Coast is described. It is characterized by two abdominal spiracles in the cyst stage and in the adult female. They perturb the growth of the Palm trees and can transmit the elemants pathogenic.
