Memories of Professor Eugène Séguy

Memories of Professor Eugène Séguy Annls Soc. ent. Fr. (N.S.) 1990, 26 (3) : 315-316 Rokuro KANO Tokyo Medical and Dental University, 5-45 Yushima, 1-Chome, Bunkyo-Ku, Tokyo 113, Japon On November 15, 1968, I arrived at Paris, France and spent two days, Monday, November 18 and Tuesday, November 19 at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle. The main purpose of my visit was to meet the great dipterist, Professor Séguy. Before leaving for Paris, I had written to him to say that I very much wanted to see him. After a while I received his reply in which he said that, as he was very aged, he was not sure he could keep the promise but he was looking forward to seeing me when I arrived in Paris. I went to the museum before 8 o'clock in the morning of November 18, when it was still dark. A lady, in the security room, opened the door for me and took me to a display room, where I looked at the specimens on display while waiting. Dr. Loïc Matile appeared somewhat later. He was the successor to Professor Séguy and a specialist of Fungivoridae. He took me to a room which had been reserved for me http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Annales de la Société entomologique de France (N S ) Taylor & Francis
