The main purpose of my visit was to meet the great dipterist, Professor Séguy. Before leaving for Paris, I had written to him to say that I very much wanted to see him. After a while I received his reply in which he said that, as he was very aged, he was not sure he could keep the promise but he was looking forward to seeing me when I arrived in Paris. I went to the museum before 8 o'clock in the morning of November 18, when it was still dark. A lady, in the security room, opened the door for me and took me to a display room, where I looked at the specimens on display while waiting. Dr. Loïc Matile appeared somewhat later. He was the successor to Professor Séguy and a specialist of Fungivoridae. He took me to a room which had been reserved for me
