Olmsted Iron Works Abstract Russell Gage Olmsted (1844–1925) of Hamilton, Ontario, was a distant Canadian relative of eminent American landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted (1822-1903). He was born in Binbrook Township to Sarah Martin and Samuel Nash Olmsted, whose father, Russell Olmsted, had been a pioneer of West Lincoln County. The boy went to local schools, and worked on his father's farm before acquiring his own property at Ancaster.
