The members attending thc Institute represent a wide variety of agencies, they have a wide range of interests, and variations in nature and length of experience. It is clearly impossible to meet fully the wishes and needs of each person. Therefore it seemed wise to attempt to cover a fairly wide range of aspects of casework. Social workers in each type of agency will have experience of some of these phases, some will have experience of all. The plan we have evolved has obvious disadvantages, chief of which is the slightly butterfly-like touch inevitable in attempting to approach in one short period, each subject which is really of limitless scope. The topics are "casework in short contacts" - with children, with adolescents, with young adults with physical handicap, with adults in marital conflict and casework with dying patients. We plan to open each session with a short paper setting forth some ideas about the subject.
