Summary Utamphorophora bromicola, sp. nov. is described and separated from the other species of the genus by the combination of the following characters: apterous without secundary rhinaria on the IIIrd antenal segment, last rostral segment shorter than the second joint of hind tarsus, siphunculi exceeding twice the length of the cauda. The species lives on Bromus spp. between 2200-2900 m, near Mexico city. A new synonymie is proposed: Sitomyzus Hille Ris Lambers, 1952 syn. nov. for Utamphorophora with corollary U. vibei (H.R.L., 1952) comb. nov.
