SUMMARY The tribe Dorcasomini, as defined by Aurivillius (Col. Cat. Junk, 1912) is split and restricted to the single genus Dorcasomus, whereas the tribe Desmocerini is re-established for the genus Desmocerus; some new tribes are created: Gahaniini for the genus Gahania, Megacoelini for the genera Megacoelus and Aphelogaster, and Plectogasterini for the genera Plectogaster and Neoclosterus. The purpose of the present work is the revision of the species of this latter tribe, in which seven genera are recognized: Plectogaster Waterhouse: pectinicornis Bates, jordani Heath, schoutedeni Burgeon. Neoclosterus Heller: curvipes Heller, bernardii, n. sp., opacipennis Boppe, argodi Belon, lujae Boppe, lemairei Lameere, boppei, n. sp. Schizogaster , n. gen.: basilewskyi Duffy. Scatogenus , n. gen.: mulleri Burgeon. Charassonotus , n. gen.: hulstaerti Burgeon. Chasmogaster , n. gen.: gabonensis Burgeon, camerunensis, n. sp. Cheilacanthus , n. gen.: severini Lameere. Dichotomous keys to the various genera and species are given, and a number of synonymies are established: Neoclosterus curvipes Heller 1899 = N. robustus Boppe 1912 = N. crampeli Boppe 1914. Plectogaster jordani Heath 1905 = P. puncticollis Burgeon 1947. Plectogaster jordani subsp. schoutedeni Burgeon 1947 is raised to specific status.
