Résumé L'analyse de presque tous les exemplaires connus de Cantharoctenus a permis de clarifier la situation taxonomique du sous-genre qui ne compte que quatre espèces: 1) Cantharocnemis (Cantharoctenus) minor Kolbe, 1898; 2) C. (C.) somalius Gahan, 1894; 3) C. (C.) burchelli Westwood, 1865-[66] (avec trois sous-espèces: C. (C.) b. burchelli Westwood, 1865-[66], C. (C.) burchelli lomii Müller, 1941, C. (C.) burchelli insignis Gerstaecker, 1871; 4) C. (C.) filippovi Plavilstshikov, 1933 (avec deux sous-espèces: C. (C.) f. filippovi Plavilstshikov, 1933 et C. (C.) filippovi antennatus Franz, 1938). Des considérations sur l'écologie et l'évolution de ces espèces complètent cette analyse.
