Révision du Genre Episparis F. Walker (Sensu Lato) (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae, Ophiderinae)

Révision du Genre Episparis F. Walker (Sensu Lato) (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae, Ophiderinae) Summary The genus Episparis F. Walker, s. l., has been revised. Examination of the type specimens and of their genitalia lends support to the subdivision of the genus into three parts as proposed by Berio (1964): genus Episparis, s. str., genus Episparina and genus Episparonia. However, the Episparina genus is still heterogeneous. These three genera now contain 30 species from the Old World (of which 8 plus one subspecies, are newly described, 6 from Africa and two from Asia). Two new synonymies are established and three others are discussed. Five species are rejected from the Episparis genus, s. l. Finally, the distribution of species according to the three genera is a follows: g. Episparis, s. str., 12 African species and 6 Asiatic species; g. Episparina, 8 African species and two Asiatic species; g. Episparonia two Asiatic species. No one species is found both in Africa and Asia. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Annales de la Société entomologique de France (N S ) Taylor & Francis
