Summary Contribution to the Systematics of west-palaearctic Copium (Hemiptera, Tingidae). This paper is dealing with systematics of west palaearctic representatives of the Genus Copium. After a short review of the works available since the 1860's, the Author gives a commented list of all taxa anteriorly described, indicating for each of them the geographical origins of typical materials and their present location when existing and known. Then, morphological features currently used for systematics of these Lacebugs are reviewed and, based on the most valuable of them, and on some ecological data, a new proposal is presented for restricting to three the number of distinct species: namely Copium clavicorne (L.), C. teucrii Host, and C. adumbratum (Horváth). These are the same species retained as good by Horváth in his Synopsis published in the year 1906. In such a frame, a number of taxa considered or created as good species in Wagner's works are reduced to lower rank: C. reyi Wagn. is a subsp. of C. clavicorne (L.); — C. intermedium (Rey) and C. iranum Wagn. are subspp. of C. teucrii Host; — C. brevicorne (Jak.), C. magnicorne (Rey), C. horvathi Wagn. and C. bernardi Wagn. are treated only as infrasubspecific taxa near the nominal form C. teucrii. Finally, a key is given for identification of the species and subspecies, and short data about geographical distributions are gathered. Several lectotypes are designated in the course of discussion of old typical materials.
