This work is a trilingual (Lamaholot-Indonesian-German) dictionary of the Lewolema dialect of Lamaholot, spoken in eastern Flores in the Lesser Sunda Islands of Indonesia. Its publication possibly makes Lamaholot the most thoroughly documented of all the CMP languages. There is a substantial amount of anthropological research done amongst Lamaholot speakers which complements purely linguistic studies including Arndt's (1937) grammar of the Solor dialect, Fernandez's (1977) grammar of the Ile Mandiri dialect, Keraf's (1978) extensive morphological study of the Lamalera dialect and Samely's (1991) study of the closely related Kedang language. The dictionary adds to this already considerable literature.
