Lee Badgett and Jefferson Frank is the first collection of its kind looking into the negative effects a hetero-normative society produces for gays, lesbians, and bisexual (GLB) people in the realm of economics and other social contexts. The volume’s primary focus is the labor market, which appears as a horizontal theme across sections but is especially considered in the first section titled ‘‘Wages and Jobs.’’ The following three sections are concerned with ‘‘Discrimination Across Institutional Contexts,’’ ‘‘Discrimi- nation in Other Cultural Institutions: Religion, Education, and Sport,’’ and ‘‘Addressing Discrimination through Public Policies.’’ Badgett and Frank provide us with a compilation that illustrates the existing disadvantages for GLB people at different institutional levels.
