The school is recognized as the focal point for this progra1mle. No longer can we be contented With imparting to children a fonnal collection of facts and skills; we must be concerned wi th the child as a total personal­ ity. This makes new demands on schools and on school staffs, demands which cannot be met without the aid of specialists of various kinds. And so the school medical services, psychology, physical education and other special services are assuming an increasing importance in the school system. Each of these specialist services is apt to see the child as an isolated unit; the child as an integral part of th e home, the. school and the total social environment is likely to be overlooked.
