S (1992): M-2& Articles SOME HITHERTO NEGLECTED BIBLICAL MATERIAL IN THE WORK OF IBN HAZM Camilla Adang Katholieke Universiteit, Nijmegen Introductio n In 1934, Miguel Asfn Palacios published an article describing the contents of a series of tracts by the Andalusian Muslim writer Ibn Hazrn (d. 45671064) that had sometime earlier been discovered in Istanbul by Helmut Ritter.1 One o f the sixteen tracts making up the collection is Al-Usūl wa l-Fur&ï Although the title suggests that it deals with legal doctrine, it is in fact almost exclusively concerned with issues of dogma, and might be described as a primitive version of what is arguably Ibn Hazm's most important work: KitSb al-Fifal fí I-Milal wa I-Ahwá" wa 1-Niļal?
