Synergistic Extraction Study of Cobalt (II) by Mixtures of Capric Acid and Tri-n-octylphosphine Oxide (TOPO)

Synergistic Extraction Study of Cobalt (II) by Mixtures of Capric Acid and Tri-n-octylphosphine... AbstractThe synergistic solvent extraction of cobalt (II) from sulfate aqueous solutions with capric acid (HL) and tri-n-octylphosphine oxide (TOPO) intochloroform, has been studied. The experimental data for the capric acid alone reveal the self-adduct formation CoL2(HL)2, in the organic phase. A remarkable enhancement on the extraction of cobalt (II) with capric acid was observed upon the addition TOPO. The synergistic enhancement was ascribed to the adduct formation CoL2(HL)2 n(TOPO) (n= 1 or 2). The TOPO-HL interaction strongly influences the synergistic extraction efficiency. The value of the partition, dimerization and equilibrium constants were determined. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Analytical Chemistry Letters Taylor & Francis
