Copestake again emphasizes that the success of every MFI’s social performance is critically dependent on leadership commitment and attaining a balance among the above-mentioned organizational choices. Social goals and objectives are important but cannot be achieved and implemented without a dedicated staff that believes in them and an institutionalized system that monitors them. In the concluding chapter, James Copestake and Anton Simanowitz further examine the success of MFIs in formalizing systems to assess and manage their social performance. They further suggest ways in which social performance management of microfinance may be improved in the future. For example, donors are advised to continue to invest in MFIs to improve their social performance assessment and management systems.
