The book assembles essays on various topics that Spieser has been working on throughout his career. In addition, it presents articles on innovative theoretical concepts and new translations of primary sources. Initially grounded in the academic concern of Spieser, the materia prima (or “the fabric from which the object is made”), this book examines the relationship between objects and their contexts, trying to emphasise the significance of contexts for the interpretation we give to objects today.
