The Politics of Implants for Breast Cancer Survivors
Abstract
Abstract This article addressed the growing concerns of women surviving breast cancer who choose to be reconstructed through implantation of a silicone device. The political nature of the implanted survivor's personal choice has been presented from a feminist perspective, correlating U.S. culture's policy of women's wholeness as a physical phenomenon with profitably-invested, male-dominated groups in control. Implications for feminist counsel and action were assessed in conclusion.
