The Use of Authority

The Use of Authority A significant aspect of correctional social work is the preparation of a prisoner for return to the free community, together with the development of a recognition of societal limits. If conditional release from an institution is planned with the full understanding of the significance of a parole order by the prisoner, a positive step is taken towards his involvement in a process of resettlement as well as social control. If on his part there is a reasoned acceptance of a proposed measure of social control based on prior understanding of his restricted status as a parolee, the authority of parole can be used to reinforce the offender's efforts to rebuild his life. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Australian Journal of Social Work Taylor & Francis
