Trichoptera collected by Prof. Dr. J. Illies in the Chilean Subregion

Trichoptera collected by Prof. Dr. J. Illies in the Chilean Subregion Studies of Neotropical caddis flies, II : Trichoptera collected by Prof. Dr. J. Illies in the Chilean Subregion By OLIVE R S. FLINT, JR . Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D. C. With 18 figures The present paper is a report on a collection of Trichoptera which, was made by Prof. Dr. J. ILLIES in Chile and Argentina during the austral summer of 1957 to 1958. I am indebted to Dr. ILLIES for making this material available for my study. Although many species have been described in the past 10 years from the Chilean Subregion, the discovery of eleven new species and three new genera in this collection indicates that the Chilean Trichoptera are still very poorly known. Because the immature stages of the Neotropical Trichoptera are almost totally unknown, the collection is made even more valuable by the number of mature male pupae which it contains. The metamorphotypes contained in the collection make it possible to associate larvae, pupae, and adults of 5 genera and species for the first time. In addition to the material here described, there are a number of collections of unassociated females and larvae. These will be reported on in the future when sufficient additional information http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Beitrage zur Neotropischen Fauna Taylor & Francis
