Summary The purpose of this ultrastructural study is to obtain more precise information about scale-cover formation and to search out the factors that could interfere with its construction. The formation of the scale cover can be accidentally disturbed by anatomical or physiological factors and through by experimentation such as cauterization of the anus, variation or insuffient feeding, delayed mating and removal scale-cover of different stages. The aberrations concerned with scale covers involves looseness of texture (insuffient or absence of the cimenting substance) color and modification of scale shape. These modifications have been found sometimes to be reversible.
