VARIATIONS IN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION AND EFFICIENCY IN NEWLY EMERGING EXTENDED METROPOLITAN REGIONS OF JIANGSU PROVINCE, PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

VARIATIONS IN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION AND EFFICIENCY IN NEWLY EMERGING EXTENDED METROPOLITAN... Abstract Recent economic reforms and restructuring in China have resulted in significant changes in the nature and efficiency of farm production. In southern Jiangsu (SUNAN), a region developing and urbanizing rapidly, farm family income is highly dependent on off-farm employment. In places, this has led to stagnating agricultural production and productivity. Such a pattern appears consistent with experiences of other Asian countries undergoing structural shift and rapid urbanization. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Asian Geographer Taylor & Francis
