On the sunflower, the females of Homoeosoma nebulella lay their eggs especially on the internai wall of anthers (Zhou et al., 1988). In the laboratory, they refuse to ovi­ posit on smooth substrates. Oviposition also needs the presence either of pollen of host plants or of aromatic extracts of sunflower heads (Le Métayer & Reymonet, 1990). Besi­ des the antennae and the proboscis, the females use their ovipositor in the oviposition site finding. The abject of the present study is to demonstrate the presence of mechanorecep­ tors and chemoreceptors on the ovipositor of H. nebulella. The two ovipositor lobes of 3 females have been observed with S.E.M.
