These swallows are better than glitter, and don’t pollute the river with micro- plastics – they know the meaning of celebration, of a rufous uprising from their hearts better than similitude: but that’s a story of this place known around the fire better than I can tell – I just tackle the spot fires of farmers and recreationalists on even more disturbing, drier days. But the welcome swallows say something if we want to hear it, surely: You’re here, nearby, and rain is coming though who would think it, given the splendour of the river, the deception of the sun? And maybe they add, Since you are here, walk with our blessing, revel in your good company.
