Where, Oh Where, Has the Therapeutic Alliance Gone?

Where, Oh Where, Has the Therapeutic Alliance Gone? Abstract Therapists find it difficult to talk about impasses or failed therapies, yet doing so can be quite constructive. This article describes three categories in terms of the therapist's countertrans-ference process: (1) that which ends in a “premature termination” (2) that which stays stuck for an excruciatingly long period of time until the therapist initiates termination; (3) that which stays stuck for a long period of time where the client initiates termination. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Women & Therapy Taylor & Francis
