Letter to the Editor Dear Sidney: I am glad to hear that you are planning to feature Harry Caudill and his book, Night Comes to the Cumberlands, in the spring issue of Appala- chian Heritage. That book has been around for thirty years (1963- 1993). Thank you for asking for details about my sending the book to the bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. Before I retired and came to Berea, I had read Night Comes to the Cumberlands. I asked Elizabeth Gilbert, the librarian, who in Berea could handle the transaction of buying 100 copies of CaudilPs book from the publisher and distribut- ing them in "high places" in Washington.
