Editorial 1.451! After much effort expended by Dr. Rawlings (past Editor‐in‐Chief) to raise the level of our Journal to the point where it merits an official Impact Factor, the first official calculation of this IF is just off the press: 1.451 is the magical number. It reflects the frequency with which articles published in the Journal are cited by other authors, that is, the interest these publications generated in the readership. While the IF does not relate to the intrinsic quality of a paper (a controversial paper of badly executed work may generate many citations of rebuttal!), the Impact Factor is important to evaluate the standing of the Journal and its readership; it helps academic research scientists to estimate the attention their paper will receive in IJCS; with this knowledge, we hope to attract more quality papers from this community, thus further raising the reputation and attractiveness of the Journal. Please do not hesitate to spread the word and to continue encouraging authors to submit to IJCS, ranked (by the same calculations) at 34/61 dermatology related publications. We thank the authors who have contributed to this success with the articles they submitted and the Editorial Advisory Board (the reviewers) for their careful analysis and selection of interesting papers! Coincidence or not: Our publisher Wiley has now added another tool to the website of the Online Library: the ‘Altmetrics’ score to each individual article allows the reader to see the ‘buzz’ (if any) that the paper has created. Time will tell what the influence of this score on the publishing industry and its stakeholders (Editors, Authors, Readers) will be. Looking forward to continuing improvement and impact of IJCS. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png International Journal of Cosmetic Science Wiley

Abstract
