As the government officially recognises the TPLF, it also inhibits fact‐finding missions into the war.The UN has accused Ethiopia of blocking its experts from investigating allegations of rights abuses in the country during the two‐year civil war, privately‐owned Ethiopia Insider website reported (22/3).“The panel appointed by the UN Human Rights Council to investigate human rights violations committed in Ethiopia, said that despite multiple requests to send an investigating team to the country, the Ethiopian government has not allowed it,” said the report.Ethiopia representatives in the UN have denied blocking the panel from conducting its work.The UN Human Rights Council set up the panel in 2022 to probe allegations of war crimes in Ethiopia despite the government's protests.
