This book is the second edition of Frechtling's earlier work, Practical Tourism Forecasting. The structure of the present book is basically the same as the previous edition but with additional tests for model speci®cation, estimation and evaluation being included. The sample range of all data used in the case studies also has been expanded to include the most recent observations. The book is a very timely publication for tourism forecasters, planners and policymakers given what has happened to the world tourism industry after the `11 September' terrorist attacks on America. The objective of the book, as stated in the book's Preface, `is to present strategies for enumerating tourism demand futures, methods using only personal computers and spreadsheet programs, through an understanding of how the methods work and what their strengths and weakness are. It is designed to help those interested in forecasting tourism demand to do so without struggling so much with theories, complex equations and Greek letters'.
