Guidelines for Authors The Journal of mender Counseling invites articles of interest to the readers. If you wish to contriiute to the journal, follow these guidelines. Send an original and two dean copies of all material. The original should be on good quality white bond; do not use colored, air mail, onion skin, erasable, or other non- standard papers. Double space everything, including references and quotations. MOW wide margins. Manuscripts should be well organized so the development of ideas is logid; try to write clearly, concisely, and interestingly. The reader should have no difficulty in following the writefs development of ideas. A good reference is "Getting into Print in P & G: How It's Done," by Judy Wall, Personnel and Guidance Journal, Vol. 52, No. 9, May 1974, pp. 594-602. The title of the article should appear on a separate page accompanying the manuscript. Indude on this page the names of authors followed by a paragraph that repeats the names of authors and gives the institutional affiliation of each. 0 Include an abstract as a separate page. The abstract should clearly summarize the main idea of the manuscript in 25 words or less. if it is a research article, reference should be made to method, results, and conclusions. 0 Note that we do not use the generic masculine pronoun or other sexist terminology. 0 Article titles and headings within the article should be as short as possible. Avoid footnotes wherever possible. 0 Check all references for completeness; adequate information should be given to allow the reader to retrieve the referenced material from the most available source. 0 Tables should be kept to a minimum. Include only essential data, and combine tables wherever possible. Each table should be on a separate sheet of paper following the reference section of the article. Final placement of tables is at the discretion of the production editor; in all cases, tables will be placed near the first reference to the table in the text. Figures (graphs, illustrations, line drawings) should be checked for possible duplication of information in text or tabular presentation. Figures should be submitted as clean, camera-ready art. 0 References, tables, and figures should follow the style of the last issue of the Journal or the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Third Edition, 1983, which is available from APA Publication Sales Department, 1200 17th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036. Never submit material for concurrent consideration by another periodical. Submit manusaipts to Dr. S. Mae Smith, Rehabilitation Dept., School of Education, University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona 85721. Computer printouts of copyedited artides will be sent to senior authors for final ap proVal before they are typeset. Authors will not receive galley or page proofs. Authors must bear responsibility for the accuracy of references, tables, and figures. Upon publication of an article five complimentary copies are sent to all authors.
