Introduction and Acknowledgements

Introduction and Acknowledgements This Feature comes about through the recent acceptance of numerous papers on the topic of smoke taint in wine. Together with a short review of the topic and an earlier paper from volume 15, these papers also comprise the first Virtual Special Issue for the Australian Journal of Grape and Wine Research ( http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/10.1111/(ISSN)1755‐0238/homepage/smoke_taint_in_wine.htm ). This collection of papers perhaps represents the majority of reports on work in this area to date and spans much of the wine production chain. As such it should provide a useful reference for both researchers and the wine industry. Publication of the most recent papers has been made possible through the generous support of the Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation * , the Department of Primary Industries, Victoria * and the Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia * .
