On the Changing of the Guard The AMERICAN JOURNAL of ECONOMICS and SOCIOLOGY Published QUARTERLY in the interest of constructive synthesis in the social sciences, under grants from the FRANCIS NEILSON FUND and the ROBERT SCHALKENBACH FOUNDATION. VOLUME 47 OCTOBER, 1988 NUMBER 4 .fiy WILL LISSNER AT THE END of this year I shall retire as editor-in-chief of this JOURNAL, a post I have held since I founded it in 1941, in association with Violetta Peterson Gra- ham, in charge of our business affairs and production until her retirement a few years ago. My assistant, Dorothy Burnham Lissner (my wife) also is retiring after a quarter of a century of service that has given our prose the elegance and clarity we have always prized. The executive committee of the non profit corporation which publishes this JOURNAL will announce at that time our successors. I am confident they will carry our work to new heights of accomplishment. On our part, Dorothy and I will devote ourselves to the preparation and publication of books and mono- graphs to add to the excellent list that the Robert Schalkenbach Foundation publishes for the Georgist movement around the world.
